Scottish Portrait Young Photographer Award Winner 2021

The portrait is of my grandfather. I decided to make the portrait in the room where my mother and her two siblings grew up, which has been left untouched for the last thirty years. Behind him are discarded clothes’ rails, posters and other items which recall past times. I hope to convey a sense of the inevitable passing of time and how, everything – ourselves, material possessions, time – all is finite.

Blair Kemp, 2020, 'Grandpa', 30 x 42 cm (framed)
